An excerpt from You Said What, God? A Lifestyle of Listening: "Back in my car that day, I had slipped right into the standard sinner's solution when God speaks. I made a deal. If God would keep His hands off my family, I would go back to church the next Sunday. And here I was, three Sundays later, not honoring God but playing out the deal. No one's blood in my family had been shed but my own hands were drained of blood from gripping the pew."

You Said What, God? A Lifestyle of Listening is a labor of love for author Don Grove Jr. A born again Christian who has devoted his life to God and family, Don Grove Jr. shares his personal stories and struggles in his 35-year journey of learning how to listen to God.

We sat down with Don Grove Jr. and asked him to share some of the more intimate details of the process of writing You Said What, God? A Lifestyle of Listening.

Why did you write this book?
Some write because they have the skill set and then write for their own or others’ enjoyment.   Some do it for income or status or power.  I was chosen to live out normal, life changing experiences that, when God was allowed to intervene, made them supernatural.  Next, God trained me to write so I could record them for others' spiritual growth.

What does this book mean to you?
Most people die wanting to finish something.  If I die today, I feel as if my life is complete now because this book is complete.

What do you want people to get out of this book?
I want people to understand there is a moment in their lives in which they will experience a contact with the Holy Spirit where He will pursue them in order to give them an opportunity to know God as a person, and not simply as a historical person about whom they have heard or read.

What is the difference in hearing God and listening to God?
Hearing occurs when you are open and receptive. Listening is an active lifestyle in which effort is expended to obtain an expected result that God wants you to be understanding and then obedient.

Who will enjoy reading this book?
Christians who did not know they could or who have been struggling to hear God for themselves and thought it was just for others such as saints and the early disciples.

How does this or how can this book benefit people?
This is another witnessing tool for Christians. Those that are born again can commit to allowing Jesus to become their Lord and those that have made Him Lord and Savior will be encouraged to improve their listening and realize it is not that difficult to listen and really hear God.

With the completion of You Said What, God? A Lifestyle of Listening, Don Grove Jr. invites anyone with a desire to obtain a closer connection to God to read this book. In a world filled with noise – much of which is negative and hate-filled – You Said What God, A Lifestyle of Listening? is a refreshing commentary by a Christian man seeking to share his inspiring journey along the path of learning how to listen to God.

I am slowly reading your book a few pages at a time. It is interesting how God deals with each individual... on an individual basis. It seems that each relationship to God has some similarities... along with some differences. I have started to tell people who know Him, "Your relationship to God is unique. No one else in the universe has it. Treasure it!" I think your book will be a great encouragement for those who seek to hear, follow, love, and obey God.
